Ahmad Maiden, 43, faces charges of assault and battery on a correctional facility employee, disturbing a correctional institution, and threats from the alleged attack, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said.

Officials said Maiden was meeting with the woman on Thursday, Sept. 15, when he started to punch her in the face and head. It's unclear what sparked the alleged violent outburst. Correctional officers quickly separated them, and paramedics rushed the woman to Massachusetts General for treatment, authorities said. The prosecutor's office did not release any information on her injuries.

As officers were restraining Maiden after the attack, he threatened that he would have them killed, the DA's office said.

Maiden is accused of attacking a corrections officer last month, as well. He's also charged with beating a family member last year, the prosecutor's office said.

Suffolk County officials transferred Maiden to the Essex County Sheriff's Department to hold him before his trials.
